I get especially excited and totally passionate when I sense a new series is brewing. Here I'm working with more vibrant color and I find it interesting that this work gives the illusion of something distinctly floral, even though the original content has nothing to do with flowers. Here I sampled papers, some very simple in content, then ripped, crunched and arranged in an abstract formation. I layered the photographic images and their fragments, overlapping and visually weaving them together. Looking forward to seeing where this takes me!

As I walk and shoot around the city, I'm often drawn to reflections in storefront windows. The importance of framing your subject comes to mind, as I am framed here by the branches of the colorful tree art. I'm reminded of how often I choose to layer photographs in my work. Here again, a simple reflection in a window lends itself to the illusion of multiple layers, creating depth and interest and drawing the eye inward. I'm quite sure that's what pulled me into the scene in the first place.

Pleased to announce that I was awarded Honorable Mention in the Tokyo International Foto Awards, for my Torn series.

This series began with the idea to repurpose photographs and assorted papers and textiles, by tearing, crumpling and recomposing to create abstract movement and structure.
